I do have to agree with you about taking care of our part of the world first. Right now we are facing a great economic crisis, and we shouldn't be handing out money hand over foot to other countries. There are other solutions than giving money.

Ha! Now I know the secret to getting people to view a blog! Use Obama and abortion in the same sentence, and you're sure to attract some attention from both sides! ;-) I may have to try it to see if it drives my traffic up!

I'm not going to weigh in on the whole abortion thing. It's a no win argument. Frankly, I'd like my friends and neighbors who've lost their jobs, homes, possessions, and shirts to have some hope for the future. Right now I'm more interested in what's coming down the tubes to help them...and to ensure my family doesn't end up in the same boat. I don't mean to belittle the abortion issue, but people have got to eat.

I did want to make one tiny point. We are fairly sheltered here in America. Women in other countries are brutalized horribly, including rape. It often goes unpunished and unnoticed by those governments, and in some cases is even condoned. In those situations, I would agree that if the USA is going to be protector of the free world, then we do have some responsibility to those women who are being terribly abused.

Alright, so I am KINDA weighing in here. But I would say this is not a black and white issue. I will agree with you on one thing...can we take care of our own issues before we go saving the rest of the world?

Stormystar and Ckcramer, Thanks for coming by the blog. Two people I don't know reading and commenting on the same day is quite a surprise.

Stormystar, I would never make a choice for anyone. It isn't my place to make those choices for others. However, if someone wants to have an abortion in Mexico, I don't want to pay for it. Also, I'm well aware that sometimes, no matter what precautions you take, you can get pregnant. It also happened to me and I of course carried through with it and now have a terrific 8 month old. So don't worry about me thinking I'll take away other people's choices. However, I do believe abortion is morally wrong and will fight it anyway I can. I believe we have to fight for our morals, otherwise the entire country will suffer.

Since this is "just speaking your mind", I would like to make a small point here. Sometimes no matter what precautions you and your partner take, you still get pregnant. I know, happened to me twice. Yes, I did carry through, and I have two kids, now grown, but I still had a choice that I could make, It was my decision, mine and my partners, not yours not somebody down the street, or in the church, it was a choice between me and God and that is all there is to it. Don't go thinking that you should take that choice away from anyone, unless you are going to raise their kids also, and not just the ones you choose to adopt, but every child that is in the foster homes, the orphanages, and any other place that the kids end up that are not wanted, but not aborted.
Remember one important thing. You made your choice, You don't have the right to force your choice on any one else.
